LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN - The Lady Scots Volleyball team will begin their season this Friday, Aug. 31 by competing in the Scott Jones Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn.

Covenant's first match is set for 3:00 p.m. against Trevecca Nazarene University (a member of the NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference). At 7:00 p.m., they will face Martin Methodist College (a member of the NAIA Trans South Athletic Conference). On Saturday, Sept. 1, at 11:00 am, they will continue tournament play as they compete against Kentucky Christian University (a member of the NAIA Association of Independent Institutions).

The Lady Scots are coming off a strong 2011 season as they won 22 games and advanced to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament. Although having lost six seniors from last year's squad, Covenant returns key players in Estes Carlson (Jr., Eaton, Colo.), Jessica Chittenden (Sr., Boyds, Md.), Paige Cheney (Sr., Hoover, Ala.), and Pretoria den Boer (So., Canton, Mich.).

Heather Taylor returns for her seventh season as head coach. With 10 victories this season, Taylor will reach 100 wins in her career at Covenant.
