LAGRANGE, Ga. -- Coming off a tough five-set loss at home to conference foe Piedmont on Tuesday, the Covenant volleyball team rebounded nicely with a pair of wins over USA South members Huntingdon and LaGrange on Satuday.
Covenant defeated Huntingdon 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) before knocking off LaGrange in three sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-22).
The Lady Scots improve to 9-6 on the year and are back at .500 inside USA South play at 2-2.
Chelsea VanDyk had 12 kills and six block assists in the Huntingdon match, while Stephanie Kirkpatrick had 23 assists and eight kills. Cora Schroeder chipped in five kills and a team-high 13 digs. Hannah Rogers tallied eight kills.
As a team, Covenant had 38 kills, compared to Huntingdon's 30. Covenant also had 16 block assists overall.
In the day's second match, the Lady Scots registered 42 kills with VanDyk leading the way with 14 as Covenant cruised to the three-set victory.
VanDyk made just four attack errors as she hit at a .312 clip. Kirkpatrick added five kills, 29 assists and 14 digs. Estes Carlson led Covenant defensively as she recorded 20 digs to go along with four service aces.
Rogers chipped in seven kills while Schroeder and Caroline Cone had six kills apiece.
Covenant will play a non-conference match on Tuesday when they travel to Waleska, Ga., to take on NAIA-member Reinhardt. Start time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
