FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Covenant women's basketball team will be the No. 5 seed entering the USA South Tournament this weekend. The Scots will face No. 4 seed LaGrange in the first round of the tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. in Maryville, Tenn., on the campus of Maryville College.
The Covenant-LaGrange winner will face No. 1 seeded Maryville on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinal round. The semifinals and championship of the tournament will be held on Feb. 24-25 at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.
The trip to the tournament will be the first for the Scots since joining the USA South. Covenant (12-12, 6-8 USA South) finished the regular season winning four of its final five games, including an 86-83 victory at Salem on Saturday that clinched the No. 5 seed. LaGrange won both the meetings with the Scots during the regular season.
