LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The Covenant men's tennis team cruised past LaGrange, 9-0, in the USA South opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at the Greer Tennis Courts in LaGrange.
Covenant goes to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league play, while LaGrange drops to 1-2 and 0-1. The Scots have won seven of the last eight matches against LaGrange in the all-time series.
The Scots took a 3-0 match lead after doubles. Solomon Crouch and Austin Dreslinski continued their hot start to the season as they eked out an 8-7(3) decision at the No. 1 spot over LaGrange's Kyle Kelley and Al Robertson. Paxton Haggerty and Ben Luke were 8-4 winners at No. 2 over Caleb Edde and Clint Brewer, while Gill Dunn and Ethan Gibson won 8-1 at the No. 3 spot.
The Scots had little trouble securing the win in singles play.
Luke took a 6-3, 6-1 win over Edde at the top flight and Dreslinski was a 6-4, 6-1 winner of Kelley at No. 2. Gibson took a 6-4, 6-0 win over Robertson at No. 3 and Crouch won 6-5, 7-6(5) at No. 4 over Brewer.
Haggerty took the opening set over Trevor McLemore, 6-3, before taking the win on McLemore's retirement. Cameron Cortman completed the sweep at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Caleb Tyler.

Covenant will be off for two weeks before hosting Berea and Greenville on Saturday, March 20.
