MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's tennis team coasted to a shut out victory at Maryville, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon in USA South action.
Covenant (8-4, 2-0 USA South) runs its win streak to three and maintains its unblemished record all-time vs. Maryville (2-6, 0-2 USA South) at 15-0.
The Scots dropped just three points in doubles play to collect the sweep.
Ethan Gibson paired with
Solomon Crouch at the top flight and took an 8-1 win over Kyle Shaver and Cooper Newman, while
Ben Luke and
Camden Lashley were 8-2 winners at No. 2 over Keshawn Haynes and Seth Green.
Tyler Kelly and
Chris Morton rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win over Jonah Hedges and Ben Wyrick.
It was more of the same in singles play as the Scots did not drop a set en route to the sweep.
Luke took down Shaver by a score of 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot, while Crouch won in straight sets at No. 2 over Newman 6-0, 6-0. Morton and
Tyler Kelly notched identical 6-1, 6-0 wins over their foes at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
Cameron Cortman was a 60, 6-1 winner over Haynes at No. 3.
Jeb Barnette completed the sweep with his 6-1, 6-3 win over Green at No. 6.
Covenant has won seven of its last eight matches.
