CLEVELAND, Ga. -Â Women's Tennis started the regular season on Tuesday with a road tilt at Truett McConnell. It was a tight match between the Scots and Bears, but it was the Scots who came out on top 4-3 to get in the win column for the 2025-26 season.Â
DOUBLES:
- The freshman duo of Landry McKinney and Maisie Tanchanpongs represented the Scots in the No. 1 slot as they earned a close 7-5 win over Katie Stanfield and Hannah Davidson.Â
- Zoe Giuntoli and Christina English fell in the No. 2 position 3-6 to Adlyne Benton and Audrey Wheeless.
- The No. 3 ranked match was another close battle as Estee Verdery and Ora Hall pulled through with a 7-5 win over Emma Michna and Taylor Pittman as Covenant won the doubles point.Â
SINGLES:Â
- Tanchanpongs capped off a two-point day in her first college match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Stanfield in the No. 1 slot.Â
- Verdery's match against Davidson in the No. 2 position went to a tiebreak, but the junior fell 3-6, 6-4, 6-10.
- The No. 3 ranked match also went to three sets and was in favor of the Bears as McKinney lost 6-1, 1-6, 9-11 to Benton.Â
- Giuntoli was bested by Weheeless in the No. 4 position, falling 4-6, 3-6.Â
- Katie Cummings came through for the Scots with a clutch 6-4, 6-2 win over Michna in the No. 5Â slot.Â
- English picked up the deciding point for Covenant in a tiebreak, defeating Pittman 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 in the No. 6 position.Â
