ORLANDO, Fla. -- Covenant women's tennis got two singles wins, but fell to Transyvlania to open their Spring Break trip, 5-2.
In doubles, No. 1 duo
Maisie Tanchanpongs and
Estee Verdery fell in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (6) to Razo-Zapata and Hayes of the Pioneers, while No. 2 pairing
Katie Cummings and
Christina English fell 6-0 to Held and Williams. At No. 3,
Landry McKinney and
Ora Hall dropped their doubles match 6-0 to Kaminski and Hartman.
Down 1-0, Tanchapongs rallied for a win at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, over Razo-Zapata, tying things up. Verdery would fall at No. 2, however, 6-3, 6-3, to Hayes to give Transy the lead back.
McKinney could not overcome Williams at No. 3 either, falling 6-1, 6-1, and then the Pioneers clinched the match at No. 4, with Cummings losing 6-4, 6-1 to Held.
English, though, rallied for a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles over Clark, before Hall fell in the final singles match, 6-2, 6-3, to Cooper to wrap up the match.
