EMORY, Va. – After a three game losing streak, the Covenant women's soccer team was able to get into the victory column for the first time this season with a 2-1 victory over Emory & Henry.

The victory moves Covenant to 1-3 and drops Emory & Henry to 0-3.

Anna Porch highlighted the victory with two goals, while Jenna Vreeland and Jessica Rowe provided the assists. It was Porch's first two-goal game of her career.

The first half ended with the two teams deadlocked at zero. In the second period, things heated up as Porch took Vreeland's feed and buried it in the back of the net past Wasp keeper Kayla Wright in the 55th minute. Porch struck again just 12 minutes later, heading in Rowe's corner kick in the 67th minute for a 2-0 lead. It was the eventual game-winner.

The Lady Scots' cushion didn't last, however, as Emory & Henry's Blair Vaughn scored off a corner kick just 29 seconds later to trim Covenant's lead to 2-1.

From there, the Lady Scots tightened the screws defensively and wouldn't give up another shot for the rest of the match.

Covenant goalkeeper Lucy Johnson played the entire match, making two saves to get the win. Wright made nine saves for Emory & Henry in the losing effort, as the Lady Scots outshot the Wasps 21-7.

Covenant will look to build upon their victory when they play Marymount at 3 p.m. in Emory, Virginia.
