LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Covenant baseball was held to just two hits by a talented Emory team on Friday afternoon, falling 12-0 in a run-rule shortened seven-inning affair at the Covenant Baseball Field.
Those two hits came from
Roby McClarnon and
Ezra Finton, while
Ryan MacLellan and
Elliott Eastin earned walks, but those were the only baserunners the Scots (6-2) managed.
The Eagles (5-4) scored three runs in the first on a three-run homer, and then added three more in the second on an RBI single and a two-run double.
Zach Barrett (1-1) settled in for a while after that, allowing just two baserunners from the third through fifth innings.
However, Emory would add six more runs between the sixth and seventh frames and starting pitcher Josh Zuckerman (1-1) took it from there, as he completed all seven shutout frames with 11 punchouts.
Leadoff hitter Jake Lawson (3-for-5, four RBIs), and Jonathan Lang (1-for-4, HR, three RBIs) powered the offense for the Eagles.
